Congressman McGovern has represented the 2nd District of Massachusetts in Congress since 1996.

 

He serves as the Chairman of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, and is the Democratic Co-Chair of the bipartisan Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission – both of which monitor, investigate and advocate on behalf of international human rights, the rule of law, and good governance.

In March 2020, Representative McGovern sponsored the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, which ensures that any goods produced in Xinjiang and imported into the United States are not made with Uyghur forced labor.
